Welcome to my web site. I hope the information presented is useful and interesting to you.
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Derek Gibson. I operate my own piano service business in Saskatoon. I tune, voice, regulate, repair, and appraise pianos. I have received additional training in concert level tuning, voicing, and regulating from Roger Jolly. Mr. Jolly is an internationally known piano technician who has lectured world wide and was a recent recipient of the Piano Technicians Guild's Jack W. Greenfield Award for exceptional contributions to the piano technology industry. Before my career as a piano technician, I was a band director for six years. I graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Bachelor of Arts. I also obtained my Associateship with the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto(A.R.C.T.) Life long learning is important to me and I strive to improve my skills and understanding in my profession. I belong to the Piano Technician's Guild. I regularly attend conventions held by these organizations, and have also contributed by teaching piano technology.
